Copper sinks are our first choice for kitchens, islands and bar sinks.  They are gorgeous and can be found in so many sizes, shapes and finishes.  In one home we used a copper farmhouse sink for the kitchen sink, an under counter round sink for the kitchen island and a hammered vessel sink in the bar area.  The counters are verde fuoco granite and it turned out fabulous!  We also added copper faucets and a copper pot filler in the kitchen.  We used a rubbed-oil bronze faucet in the bar area which was a great compliment to the copper tones in the hammered copper.

There are a lot of places to purchase copper sinks - both online and in many local stores.  We purchased this farmhouse sink at Costco, but it is made at Handcrafted Metal.com. They have a very large selection of copper items including sinks, range hoods, bathtubs and countertops.  We cannot say enough about both their quality and their service.  We highly recommend them and you can visit them here.

The hammered vessel sink we used is shown here with the verde fuoco and oil-rubbed bronze faucet.  It is a very warm and luxurious look. The cabinets are hickory stained oak and there is a mirror on the back wall of the bar.  We have found all copper sinks are very easy to care for and always look wonderful - even when the are not clean.  This one was purchased at a local supplier but Handcrafted Metal has the hammered ones as well.

Copper sinks are available in almost as many finishes as shapes.  Old world copper patinas created with traditional methods of using heat and chemicals produce one of a kind finishes.  They are beautiful to the point of spellbinding.  This range hood, again at our favorite metal site, shows a patina finish they produced with their heat and chemical method.  You can see many variations of this if you visit them.  And as they say, it never turns out the same way twice so if you order patina it will be a variation of all you see there.  If you want to know exactly what finish you are getting on your sink when you order then order from the traditional copper finishes.

If you need a new sink, choose copper and you will never be sorry.  It is really hard to ruin copper - unfortunately we have tried - because it is a natural substance and looks fabulous even dented and tarnished.  Copper is easy to care for and does not promote the growth of bacteria.  Because of this it is considered by some to be the healthiest material for a sinks.
