Corner shelves are a great way to make some extra space in your closet.  Our most recent closet was not really large enough for everything and while looking for how to "stretch" the space we discovered them.  There are many types available and we will show some of our favorites here.

Home Depot has some wonderful space saver corner wall shelves and you can install them yourself.  It is made by ClosetMaid and is so functional with two flat sides for the closet rods to attach to and a large opening which will allow you to store stuff right back into the corner of the closet.  Comes in cherry, white or maple and is $79.99 for the three shelf stackable unit.  Stack two and have plenty of room for handbags, sweaters or whatever else you need that extra space for.  You can install this your self - just take out your closet rod, attach the shelves to the wall in the corner and then cut the closet rod down to the new size and reinstall it - using the outside edge of the new shelving for one end of the rod.  This type of shelf can hold so much stuff - folded sweaters, turtlenecks, bins of gloves and scarves, baskets of socks, shoes, boots and even bedding if you need it for that.  Find stackable bins that slide open and everything can remain dust free.  We have several in our shelves -one for belts and even one for bras.

Radius corner shelves are such a great use of corner space closets and are available at Easy Closets.com.   These shelves are available in all colors, come in either a 24" or 30" size and are 14" deep.  The Container Store has stackable drawers which are 14" deep and would work perfect for this type of custom closet system. Figure out how far apart you want to place the shelves depending on what drawer you want to stack.   some are 4.5 inches high and some are 6.75 inches high.  They are 10.5 inches wide so two in a shelf, one at each end with the 30" shelf, you still have room for a stack of sweaters. Easy track.com also has corner shelving - you can purchase side panels and shelves separately.

Custom closets and custom organizers can give you such a feeling of luxury.  Take an inventory and start building your system.  All the parts are available individually and are not terribly expensive. 

In addition to using these shelves in your closet they are great for a corner in a bedroom, den or bathroom.  These need not have the sides to attach the closet rod to and can just fit flush in the corner.  They are a fabulous space saver and can hold books, pictures, would be perfect for a jewelry tree and would hold extra handbags depending on the size you choose.  And for that small bathroom there are bathroom corner shelves to give you some extra space for hand towels, pictures and some hair spray for guests.
