A Very Southwest Custom Fireplace Screen

A Custom designed and built fireplace screen.  It's addition made the otherwise plain stone fireplace look fabulous.  Made of copper and iron with arrows crossing in the center. Fireplace screens are as versatile as decorating whether you are a cactus or kokopelli fan.  And we love Christmas decorations as much as southwest.

 

 

Southwest decor means different things to different people.  All of it is fabulous - Native American, Mexican, Cowboy, texture and everything in between...  and of course our favorite, Kokopelli.  For some it means getting that red leather chair.  We love to decorate both inside and out with Southwestern items.  Equipale, juniper and cedar outdoor patio furniture all allow you to carry the theme outside.

 Verde Fuoco Granite is one of the most expensive and most gorgeous of the granites available. As the name  implies, it is dark green with what looks like fire or embers throughout it.  It looks like it is made for copper fixtures and looks just as fabulous with stainless steel.

My southwest sofa - I had a very southwest red, tan and green fabric sample of a sofa we had ordered from La-Z-Boy, and when the decorator I was interviewing said it would be the focal point of the room I began my decorating adventure.  Before and after is always intriguing.

Mexican furniture has had a huge influence on southwest decorating - it is some of the most colorful, exciting and interesting items out there. The rustic pine furniture they make exudes southwest. 

 Southwest Built-ins with a gorgeous finish..  One particular entertainment center by Dagr Design in Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine really made our "socks roll up and down"!

 Metal wall art comes in every size and shape, from sun shapes to cowboy boot shapes and from coyote shapes to (of course) the infamous southwest Kokopelli shape.

To keep within that budget, use or buy an old lamp and then get a new southwest lamp shade.  Choose from metal, painted, and western shades.

Southwest says eclectic to us and we use a huge variety of items, from bamboo pots to a zebra rug and even a set of metal mariachi chickens.
