Southwest sofas come in many styles, colors and sizes.  Several different options are shown here.

 The sofa and loveseat shown here at Southwest Interiors in Albuquerque, New Mexico is a very typical southwest style.  Made of an ornate print fabric and pine wood with carvings it is a very fun item to decorate with.  This store also has some fantastic dining room table sets.  A lot of the furniture seen in New Mexico is pine furniture and it is easily carved and easily stained with all the beautiful colors.  It cannot be purchased at their site but there is contact information available there.  New Mexico is very well known for it's southwest furniture and decor and you could shop there all day and not see it all.  A Disneyland for decorators.

Leather and cowhide sofas are fabulous for southwest decorating.  This rustic furniture reminds all of us of the Old West.  The colors of cowhides are all in the brown, black and white tones so you can put all the bright oranges, reds and turquoise in the room with it to brighten it up.  The Texas Web Store  has a large selection of cowhide sofas (of course, it's Texas).  This picture is of one of their gorgeous hides.  If that does not make you want a cowhide rug, nothing will.  One sofa made of cowhide is really not too much for a living room - you can coordinate with a solid colored chair or loveseat - in leather of course.  Properly tanned, with proper quality hair, cowhides require very little maintenance.  They can be vacuumed on low with soft bristles and in the direction of the hair growth.  For spills, use a soft cloth and warm water or if necessary a gentle cleaner - like shampoo.  Use the soap sparingly and rinse well - do not vacuum while it is wet.

Fabric and leather is a very comfortable combination in a sofa.  The fabric is so comfortable to sit on in winter or summer and the leather is rich and luxurious to look at. La-Z-Boy makes very high quality furniture and this custom leather and fabric sofa is superb.  We own this couch and it is wonderful!  Rich, soft leather with studded arms and bottom edge it is exceptionally well made.  The back cushions are attached but the seat cushions are removable and have zip off covers.  Visit the La-Z-Boy Design Center to see all the fabrics and leather colors they offer.  You can choose a sofa and see a picture of it in the fabric/leather combination of your choice.  The owner of this sofa has had it for several years so the exact pattern may not still be available.  For most pictures on this site you can see a larger view if you click on the picture.
