Travertine flooring is one of our favorite applications for a bathroom floor.  It's natural warmth and relaxed feel adds comfort and luxury to any room.  It is available in many patterns; the one shown here is a tumbled Versaille pattern with the largest square being 16 inches in diameter.  In this application it is combined with a splitface travertine on the tub front, a 1 inch by 2 inch tile in the shower, a 16 inch square on the countertops with a 4 inch square tile for the floor molding, the back splash and around the vanity mirror.  

 Travertine floor tiles are available in numerous sizes and colors.  It is a natural product and the colors range from the very light beige colors to the darker mocha colors.  At Build Direct.com you can see a considerable range of colors.  In addition to color choices you can also find samples of the tumbled, mosaic and travertine moldings.  The Cabot Durango Vein Cut Travertine Tile they have is truly gorgeous and is available in 12 inch by 12 inch and 16 inch by 16 inch in both honed and filled or polished.

A Travertine floor is also fabulous on a porch or patio. Paversearch.com has travertine pavers in eleven colors and three main types of finishes which are suitable for outdoor applications and landscaping projects.  These finishes include honed/chiseled edge travertine pavers which are available in varying thicknesses and a range of multi size sets; tumbled travertine pavers also available in varying thicknesses and a range of multi size sets; and antique (cushion/pillow edged) travertine pavers which are individually hand crafted to achieve a worn ancient look. This type of finish imitates that of Ancient Roman flooring, where different sizes were used together and aged over time through excessive use.  We have personally used travertine floor tiles around a giant evergreen tree in a star pattern will ground cover planted between them.  This huge display received many compliments. 

The travertine floor tile which is appropriate for outdoor use is fabulous around a swimming pool as a not slippery when wet, not hot when sunny and luxurious deck.  According to a source I found online, the Ritz Carlton in Miami has a travertine pool deck.

Travertine tile flooring is used extensively in hotels because it is easy to clean, comfortable to walk on and durable as well as beautiful.  Find a place to use it in your own home.  It can be used with nearly unlimited decor styles.
