A Venetian Plaster Entertainment Center. Southwest Built-ins... One particular entertainment center by Dagr Design in Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine really made my "socks roll up and down"! We sketched ours out to scale, using the dimensions of our newly purchased TV as a starting point. My wonderful youngest son is a licensed contractor and built it from our chicken scratch notes. The Saguaro Rib doors on the front hide the sound and video systems inside. We incorporated many of the elements from the picture of the one in the magazine and it turned out fabulous. I even tried to decorate mine like the picture - bought things nearly the same shapes and sizes then placed them positioned in the shelves in a similar manner. That way I look like I know what I am doing! And you can do it with many, many things in your own home - find what you like and duplicate it yourself. Our Custom Venetian Plaster Entertainment Center is one of our favorite things about our Southwest home and now our son built one in his own house. See full page picture and compare the one by Dagr Design.

The venetian plaster process can be very tedious but you can do it yourself if you are handy - and with a little education. There are many companies making venetian plaster and most of them have written instructions as well as videos on how to apply it. The product is expensive, but so worth it. The colors are unlimited and there are many different types of applications and finishes available. Valspar and Artsparx both have websites with instructions on how to apply venetian plaster. Several of the venetian plaster colors we have in our home.
