Wall shelves may sound like a boring decorating item but let us assure you they do not have to be.  We have carried this picture of these wonderful, narrow, photo-friendly, built-in shelves for years now.  We will incorporate them into a hallway some day.  They take up very little space and you eliminate having to hang the pictures which allows for much easier application as well as enables you to easily change out your photos as the children and grandchildren grow.  They are built into a venetian plaster wall and are themselves covered in venetian plaster and only extend from the wall about three inches. They would be perfect even in a very, very long hallway.   We think wood wall shelves built in this same narrow style would also be fantastic.

Another great option is shown here and this has to be the ultimate in wall shelving.  These built in shelves would work in any room in the house and are anything but boring wall shelving.  They are fabulous and we are sure anyone would love to have them.  They too are venetian plaster shelves and the look is rich and oh so custom.  As in most southwest decor, they are a luscious warm color.
